Adrian Mays has been named the Program Director for the Xceleration Job Training Program. Adrian has a gift of connecting with at-risk youth.
Adrian Mays was born in Toledo, Ohio and graduated from Roy C. Start High School in 1993. The following year he attended Clark State Community College on a basketball scholarship. Here, he majored in accounting and business management. After 5 years Adrian moved to Catersville, Georgia, and joined the Southern Football League (SFL) semi-pro football league. He played for the West Georgia Thunder for one season.
After that season, Adrian began to pursue his passion for working with youth, by working at (PRJDC) Paulding Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Dallas, Georgia. It was there that Adrian discovered not only his passion, but a skill for working with at-risk youth and youth offenders. In 2003, Adrian transferred to (MRJDC) Manatee Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Bradenton, Florida. After about four years, Adrian decided to open his own accounting and tax preparation service, Rapid Return Business and Tax Services.
For the last thirteen years, Adrian has provided tax preparation service to workers and business owners throughout several states. Although very busy at times, Adrian’s heart and passion for youth never changed. While running his tax office, Adrian continued to work with youth in a number of settings, from coaching a high school girls’ AAU and USSSA basketball team, to becoming a youth teacher at Ward Temple AME church, a volunteer teacher/leader for Youth for Christ, a volunteer mentor for Replay Outreach at the Juvenile Detention Center, and currently is a youth leader/teacher at Christian Retreat Family Church.
